Next NRG Systems Inc. launches the popular "Convert Campaign"April 25, 2008Next NRG Systems Inc., earlier this year, launched the popular "Convert Campaign" to encourage restaurants to switch to non hydrogenated fryer oils. The program has come under challenging times as commonly used vegetable oil pricing experience global price fluctuations worldwide. Restaurants that have committed to the program are having to switch back to cheaper shortenings or hydrogenated oils due to costs. “We want restaurants to stay in the program for the long haul” says Mike Perrier President and CEO of Port Coquitlam, B.C. based Next NRG Systems Inc, “Restaurants must realize that our program is the solution to stabilizing global food markets.” The Restaurant Green Zone pays $0.05 per litre for qualifying used frying oil which is converted in alternative fuels (like biodiesel). The Restaurant Green Zone program is a oil to alternative fuel recycling program that does not take away from food producing farmlands. The program is supported by the British Columbia Restaurant and Food Service Association (BCRFA), the Alliance of Beverage License Establishments (ABLE-BC), and the British Columbia Hotel Association (BCHA). Both Sysco and Neptune Food Service have supported the CONVERT CAMPAIGN and have offered discounts on selected non hydrogenated oils but the program is also having an unforeseen affect in another areas. The Convert Campaign earmarked donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Next NRG Systems Inc has committed a minimum of $5,000.00 to the Foundation under this program. With restaurants pulling out, there was fear that Next NRG Systems Inc might not meet their minimum goal. Although not part of the Convert Campaign (because they already use non hydrogenated cooking oils) Compass Canada BC Correctional Foodservice Division VP of Operations Bill McSeverny has instructed Next NRG Systems Inc to redirect all nine of their service locations payments as donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and the Yukon under the Convert Campaign. “We didn’t want the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon to suffer this global food crisis “ Say VP of Operations Bill McSeverny for Compass Canada BC Correctional Foodservice Division “ This program needs all our support to bring about stability on the market. Now, Next NRG Systems Inc can put into action a restaurant retention strategy for this important program. Next NRG Systems Inc, a participating member of the Recycling Council of British Columbia , is a processing facility for biofuels servicing the needs of British Columbia.
